The options are plenty when exploring Cheshire, the network of footpaths, cycle paths, canal and excellent road links cover most ways of travel. Fancy being captain of your own boat for the day – why not hire a dayboat to cruise the local canals? The perfect day out for all the family and a great way to relax as you cruise the Cheshire Canals, take a picnic or stop off at one of the local canal side pubs along the way! However if you don’t fancy being Captain you can always take an organised boat trip on the river or canal. Chester offers many options, designer shops, Chester Zoo, a walk on the city walls or an open top bus tour. Hop off and on as many times as you like, your tour guide will point out all the places of interest and give you an insight into the history of this beautiful city. Combined tickets can be purchased for bus and river boat tours, and represents good value for money.
The Cheshire Peak District offers a wide range of opportunities for lovers of outdoor pursuits or those who just like to explore the scenery and wildlife. Walk up to White Nancy or through the legend filled woods of Alderley Edge to Stormy point for views that will leave you breathless – in more ways than one. For the serious walkers and cyclists the Cheshire Cycleway takes you round villages and attractions via an intricate network of quiet country lanes and cycle paths, many of which are National Cycle Network routes. Most towns and villages in this upper class and historically fascinating region are linked by two major motorway networks, the M6 and the M56, so getting around by car is easy.
