From the bleak landscapes of the upper moors to the more forgiving and beautiful lowlands, Derbyshire has it all, and Darwin Forest Country Park is a facility of which the county can be very proud indeed. Offering a range of facilities that will appeal to young and old alike, the park is replete with superb health and fitness centre that features a heated indoor pool and a gym, and also offers some excellent sporting activities such as tennis and orienteering – perfect for the local hills – while walkers will enjoy the many opportunities for rambling over some of the most unspoilt landscapes in the country.
A bar and restaurant offers relaxation and quiet reflection on site, while the excellent accommodation ranges from a two person to an eight person lodge, and what the park itself has to offer is only equalled by the attractions of the surrounding area.
Here you are just a few miles from England’s finest country house, Chatsworth, home of the Duke of Devonshire and a magnificent building with astonishing grounds, while the pretty local town of Matlock offers the delightful Heights of Abraham and nearby Bakewell its famous tarts, and with so much to do and such a lot to see this is a holiday destination that appeals right across the board.
