The area has several country parks including Clyde Muirshiel, a very popular countryside escape for the citizens of Glasgow. Enjoy the beautiful views, walk or a cycle through the woods, up the glens, over the hills, around the historic estates or along the loch shores – and all this is free! The Park also provides outdoor activity courses and taster sessions for activities such as sailing, canoeing, mountain biking, orienteering and hill walking. All ages can hire mountain bikes, row boats, kayaks and fun boats at Castle Semple.
Refrewshire partly borders the River Clyde and the Firth of Clyde, with ports including, Gourock and Wemyss Bay. With regular ferry services from Gourock you can enjoy a day out sailing across to Dunoon in Argyllshire or from Wemyss Bay over to Rothesay on the Isle of Bute.
The city of Glasgow is only a short drive away and with plenty of park and ride options, it’s not necessary to take your car into the city centre. In Glasgow you will find beautiful Victorian architecture, some of the best shopping centres in Scotland, cafes, bars and an abundance of arts and culture. Not only does the city have in the region of 20 museums and galleries, but they are all admission free!
