Lochcarron, scattered round the shores of Loch Carron is a photographers dream as the surrounding hills reflect on the crystal waters and only the road and the foreshore separate the loch from the village. Drive from there over Glen Torridon through the mountains to Applecross.

A jaw dropping drive over the spectacular Bealach na Ba, the Pass of the Cattle and you will be rewarded with unforgettable views to the Isle of Skye and the best fish and chips in the world at the local pub. Gairloch Marine Life Centre and Cruises offer scenic and wildlife cruises, aboard ‘MV Starquest’ and visitors are often rewarded with a glimpse of whales, dolphins or porpoise. Ullapool museum is housed in a beautifully restored Thomas Telford Parliamentary Church, built originally in 1829. The museum tells the story of local life and experiences, and the history of Loch Broom. The wonderful multimedia displays provide real insight into the local area.

There are many opportunities for outdoor activities, and Forest Enterprise at Dornoch offers many activities including, peaceful forest walks, cycle routes, stunning views, orienteering, fitness trail, mountain biking and much, with events throughout the summer, and many of these are especially suited to family groups and younger visitors.
