Walking and cycling is a wonderful way to explore
Flintshire and the Clwydian Range is one of the area’s ideal routes to explore, with something suitable for all abilities from a family outing to the serious enthusiast. The Clwydian Range, the location of many ancient forts forms an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and contains part of the Offa’s Dyke footpath. The area is characterised by sweeping moorland, heather clad hills, limestone crags and valleys which provide wonderful views and quiet trails.

Between Connah’s Quay and Chester is an eight mile traffic-free converted railway path for cyclists, walkers and wheelchair users. It offers gentle, flat routes along converted railways, to quiet country lanes up in the hills where you can experience the exhilarating views across the Dee Estuary. You can choose to do a small section of route that suits you and your family, or the whole lot!

For a more restful day out, why not chill out at Talacre Beach?
Loads of parking near the beach, miles of golden sand, lapped with the clean waters of the Irish Sea. Rarely feels crowded because of the size of it – so grab your bucket and spade and head off to the beach. Or if you feel like flinging yourself down the hill instead – It’s called sphereing! Spheremania is where you spend the day, flinging yourself down the hill inside a large inflatable ball – you can get a great view of the coast, if you can bear to look!!

Everyone needs a spot of retail therapy when they’re on their holidays so why not step out to Broughton Shopping Park, great shopping with a wide variety of retail outlets, clothes, shoes, fashion, and food. Or if you like your crafts and antiques Afonwen Craft and Antique Centre is where you might just find yourself a hidden treasure amongst the huge variety of goods on offer – nothing like a spot of bargain hunting!
