There are historic towns, seaside resorts, castles, narrow gauge railways, museums, leisure facilities and much, much more to do and see all year round. Visitors return year after year, to escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life, to relax and enjoy the wonderful vistas around every corner.
Snowdon, is obviously the prime destination for many with the most popular routes to the summit being the Llanberis Path, which runs parallel to the Snowdon Mountain Railway and the more strenuous Pyg and Miner’s tracks. Of course you could let the train take the strain and get to the top the easy way. There are a number of other mountain ranges that are equally as beautiful and challenging, the scenic North Wales Path which follows the coast and lower mountain slopes between Prestatyn and Bangor and the traffic free cyclepath from Barmouth to Penmaenpool.
As well as the Snowdon Mountain Railway you can visit the Talyllyn Railway. A historic narrow-gauge steam railway, set in the beautiful Mid-Wales countryside and travelling from Tywyn to Abergynolwyn and Nant Gwernol, the line passes the delightful Dolgoch Falls with excellent forest walks at Nant Gwernol. As well as the museum and workshops to visit there are special event days which include a visit from Duncan, one of Thomas the Tank Engine friends.
For an exciting experience you must visit King Arthur’s Labyrinth. Sail underground, through the great waterfall and deep inside the spectacular caverns of the Labyrinth and travel far back in time. Once inside the Labyrinth, your hooded boatman guides you through tunnels and vast caverns, whilst you enjoy tales of King Arthur and other ancient Welsh legends. Stories of dragons, of giants, of battles and many more are told, complete with dramatic scenes, sound and light effects. Guaranteed to be cool when hot and dry when wet, a perfect all weather attraction.
Gwynedd has something for everyone, take time to visit and explore, and whether you are planning an action packed or relaxing holiday it’s all here waiting for you. The wonderful holiday parks offer the highest standards of accommodation and facilities – please come soon!!
